Capsule Wardrobe

From the moment I learned what a capsule wardrobe was, from the gal at un-fancy, I was hooked. I immediately started paring down my closet to the recommended 37 items. Mind you, I did not purge everything out of my closet, a few items definitely got donated but most were relocated to another closet. Don't hail me as the queen of cold heartedly getting rid of clothes just yet. I made a quick trip to TJ Maxx to round out the capsule and ta da it was done.

When I went to TJ Maxx this time, I had a mission to find comfy more causal tops that would work for everyday goings on. My main problem with shopping is that I am always drawn to statement pieces or fancy dresses for the cocktail party/movie premiere I imagine myself going to. In reality I go to t-ball practice, preschool and the grocery store. I wear the same pair of jeans, and one or two different shirts that I keep draped on the dresser totally ignoring the closet crammed full of dressy things. I shop for the life I imagine I lead and not the life I really live.
It has been about two months now since I started and I LOVE it. I have to say I still have probably only worn 2/3rds of the 40 pieces in my capsule. I always have something to wear no matter the event. I have fancy things for the few times I went out (and honestly is was the same outfit all three times). I was able to make outfits that I loved for any and every occasion that came up. It helped that when setting up the capsule, I made sure everything was clean and *gasp* ironed. This went a long way in feeling prepared and ready to get dressed.
Some fashion bloggers post a picture everyday of what they wore, but frankly nothing I wore was that inspiring or awesome or fashion forward. If you saw me you would just think yep she got dressed this morning. I think its less about how you look but how you feel. I felt great every time I left the house and that goes a long way to feeling less frazzled as f***. -g
